Greetings!
I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! I just wanted to list what is going on next week at school. We do go all five days, but Friday is Hawaii Day. Your child should have brought home a note about it. We have lots of neat activities planned. The only thing they are supposed to do is find three facts about Maui. Have them bring it on Monday! They will make group presentations to present to the other 4th grade classes.
Aside from Hawaii Day, our class will be studying the following next week.
Reading - Our story is Lewis and Clark and Me. We will be studying the route that Lewis and Clark took on their exploration journey. Feel free to help your child with some background knowledge about it before they come to class. Background knowledge helps with deeper learning and comprehension. While we are studying about the explorers, we will also be discussing author's purpose. The author's purpose defines why the author writes a specific story.
Each student is asked to take their reading book home on MONDAY nights and read the weekly story before class the next day. So, please make sure they have it on Monday night.

Live outside the box!
Our first Art project reflected our discussion of "Living Outside of the Box!" We discussed the importance of being our own person.
The students created their own artwork by designing with boxes!
Here is the result!
1st week of school....in the books!
Welcome to Room 38! If your reading this as a parent or guardian of a child in this room, I want to say THANK YOU for letting me have them everyday. I can assure you that each day we will do our best to learn, laugh, and love!
I believe a classroom is a child's home away from home and I will make every effort to make that transition easy for them. School is not everyone's favorite part of the day and I get that. I understand! However, I use various learning styles to teach the kiddos! They are not robots that learn the same way and I certainly do not expect them to do so.
I will keep this blog updated with weekly events and happenings in our class!
Thanks again and I look forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. A
